Self-confidence is a vital element in the survival of a long distance relationship.

During the time when both of you are apart from each other, distance can create countless and irrelevant “what ifs.”

“What ifs” are threats against the relationship. The fact that you are separated automatically creates questions about each other’s faithfulness.

Self-confidence is a personal assurance that despite the distance faithfulness and honesty are two things you both cannot compromise. This is very difficult to develop if you have low self-esteem because you will always look at yourself as a victim. This is not healthy. This can lead to many complicated issues that if not addressed properly can lead to a disastrous breakup.

Your partner can always give you an assurance, but the issue here is not your partner, it’s YOU. You need to help yourself develop self-confidence.

A secured person is also a source of security for others. If you lack self-confidence, then most likely you also do not have confidence in your partner. Now if both of you lack self-confidence with each one, then there’s no room for long distance relationship to survive.
